GULL Seen as one of his more conventional works Th(e) stapled a one legged seagull to a post. “I think I made my point,” Th(e) was quoted as saying. But tragedy soon followed when it was discovered that a Swedish poultry farmer named Wilbur Holst had created a similar work entitled Fowl Crucifixion over ten years earlier. It was also discovered that Th(e) had glued, not stapled, the seagull to the post. Critics decried this as an example that Th(e) did not have the balls to be a real artist. But Th(e) insisted, “I have balls. Lots of balls.”
